Los autores argumentan que la edad de la balística esta llegando a su fin para dar comienzo a un nuevo periodo que es el de la era de las municiones guiadas por precisión (PGM's), las llamadas armas inteligentes que van a dar lugar a una nueva manera de hacer la guerra. Estos nuevos proyectiles, a diferencia de los tradicionales, son precisos y letalmente eficientes y pueden ser usados desde cualquier distancia. Los autores buscan demostrar como la innovación tecnológica en el área armamentística va a afectar las estrategias de defensa tanto en tierra, mar, aire así como en el espacio, debiendo rediseñar las fuerzas militares americanas, a la vez que deberán enfrentar nuevos desafíos estratégicos en el nuevo siglo siendo que se trata del mas dominante poderío a nivel global. |
